August Update.

I guess it would be nice to keep you updated on everything and not just bits and peices. So here's a real update on things/ a sneak peak of my next newsletter:
I am excited to announce that on June 26, 2010, I was accepted as a missionary with World Indigenous Missions (WIM). WIM’s headquarters are located in New Braunfels, TX. Their office is full of wonderful, godly people who want to see all missionaries succeed by fulfilling God’s call on their lives. WIM has a heart to see the Kingdom of God established around the world. I spent a week at WIM’s orientation and training in June 2010. During that week, 12 other candidates and I went through 80 hours of training. Some of the areas covered were how to plan a budget, how to properly write newsletters, how to minister to hard-to-reach people, and much more. The information shared was spoken with wisdom and experience. The WIM staff did their best to give us as much information as possible in only week. When I left the orientation, all I wanted to do was sleep for four days straight because I had such a mental overload. Since I have recovered from that overload, I have started to raise money for the next step that I am taking!

The next step for me is to attend language school. It is said that to become an effective missionary you must first learn how to speak the heart language of the people to whom you will minister. And this is just what I plan to do! In September I will go back to Honduras for language school. The length of the school is six months. In those months, I will not only learn the native language but I will also experience the culture in which they live. The total cost for two trimesters of study is around $8,000 which includes one-on-one language training, rent, living cost, transportation, food, etc. I am looking forward to this great opportunity! I believe all of the finances will come together because with God all things are possible. I am looking forward to having many partnerships with those who are closest to me. I look forward to keeping you updated, and I look forward to writing the next newsletter! I hope you have enjoyed this one! Until next time…

'I will live to carry Your compassion,
to love a world that’s broken, to be Your hands and feet.
I will give with the life that I’ve been given and
go beyond religion to see the world be changed.
By the power of Your name.'

  1. You don't know me, Nicole, but you started following my blog "The Story of my Life". I am the lady that has eight children :) It's hard to believe the world is this small, but I go to Dayspring Christian Fellowship, and I know personally most of the staff at WIM, including the Director, Chris Briles and his family! I also provided childcare for a couple who attended the WIM training, John and Michelle! How funny!!! It would be very cool to meet you in person sometime!
